Terms of Service

By accessing or using Events Portal (the "Service") — whether to browse events, ask a question, register interest in an event, or manage events as an Organizer, Panelist, Staff member, or Admin — you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Events Portal is an events discovery and information platform. We list conferences, workshops, trainings, and other events on behalf of Organizers, and we provide a Q&A feature that allows attendees to ask questions and panelists or organizers to respond.

Events Portal does not organize, run, or guarantee the events listed on the platform. That responsibility belongs to each event's Organizer. Where a listing includes a registration link, fee information, or online/hybrid joining details, those arrangements are between you and the Organizer or their registration/ticketing provider, not Events Portal.

You must be able to form a legally binding contract to use the Service. If you are under 18, please use the Service only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

To ask a question about an event, we ask for your name and phone number and send a one-time verification code (OTP) by SMS. Once verified for that event, you can:

• Ask a question publicly, visible to anyone viewing that event's Q&A page, or privately, visible only to you, the panelist you direct it to (or any assigned panelist if undirected), and Events Portal Admin/Staff.
• Reply within a public thread you can see, or within your own private thread.

Your display name, as you entered it, is shown next to what you post. Your phone number is not displayed publicly. Verification remains valid for a limited time, currently 48 hours, for that specific event. After that period, you may be asked to verify again.

We may rate-limit the number of questions or replies submitted within a given period to keep the feature usable for everyone. Admin/Staff may hide or remove questions or replies that breach our Code of Conduct. See our Policies page for more information.

Some parts of the Service — including creating and managing events, moderating Q&A, and replying as an assigned panelist — require a registered account with a role assigned by an Admin.

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for activity performed under your account. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.

When using the Service, you agree not to:

• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with an event or organization.
• Post content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, hateful, obscene, or that infringes another person's rights.
• Attempt to bypass phone verification, rate limits, or other security controls, or use the Service to send unsolicited bulk messages.
• Scrape, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the normal operation of the Service.
• Use another person's phone number without permission to complete verification.

We may suspend or terminate access for users who violate these Terms.

Organizers are responsible for the accuracy of their event listings, including dates, venue, pricing, and event format. Events Portal does not currently process event payments or sell tickets directly.

Where a fee applies, registration and payment take place through the link or contact details provided by the Organizer. See our Policies page for general information on cancellations and refunds.

You retain ownership of the questions and replies you submit. By posting them, you grant Events Portal a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, store, and moderate that content as part of operating the Service, including showing it to panelists and Admin for the purpose of responding to or moderating it.

Event descriptions, schedules, posters, and other listing content remain the responsibility of the respective Organizer.

We may hide, change the visibility of, or remove content, and may suspend or terminate access to the Service where necessary to enforce our Code of Conduct, these Terms, or applicable law.

We aim to act proportionately and fairly, but some actions — such as responding to a valid legal request or preventing abuse — may need to occur immediately.

The Service uses third-party providers to operate. For example, Beem Africa may be used for SMS delivery of verification codes, and Google Maps may be embedded for event locations. Use of those embedded features may also be subject to the respective providers' own terms.

The Service is provided "as is." We do not guarantee that any listed event will take place exactly as described, that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that information submitted by Organizers is always accurate or complete.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Events Portal disclaims warranties, whether express or implied.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Events Portal and BOBTechWaves will not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, or from an event, transaction, or interaction with an Organizer, panelist, or other user through the Service.

You agree to indemnify Events Portal and BOBTechWaves against claims arising from your misuse of the Service or violation of these Terms.

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date on this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continuing to use the Service after revised Terms take effect means you accept those changes.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.
